The company was founded in 1930, not as a society but as an individual business of MANUEL GOMES DE OLIVEIRA, name of the founder and father of the present owners and partners at the company.

After the death of Mr. Manuel Gomes de Oliveira, the company passed to the possession of his 4 sons; Messrs. António Gomes de Oliveira, Domingos Gomes de Oliveira, Joaquim Gomes de Oliveira and Serafim Gomes de Oliveira, that have founded the present society "Manuel Gomes de Oliveira, Filhos, Lda".
